Internship overview

Clear Angle Studios is a world-leading company based in Pinewood Studios which covers all aspects of scanning for VFX, from full 360º character scanning in its multi camera systems, LiDAR scanning of sets and high-resolution environment acquisition.

Your role as an intern would include supporting the team with:

  • the setup, shooting and maintenance of their multi-camera, full-body character scanning systems
  • on location scanning
  • handling and organising captured data
  • logging shoot data
  • prop scanning
  • shooting texture and look development reference

During this 4-week internship, you will be provided with in-person training by CAVE Academy and Clear Angle Studios on topics such as how to shoot HDRIs and panoramas, capture texture and look dev reference, and shooting geometry reference. A structured progression path will also be presented, and you will get hands-on mentorship from the Clear Angle Studios team.

On successful completion of the internship, interns will be assessed and opportunities to progress into Junior Capture Assistant roles will be offered to select candidates.

This is a paid internship programme for up to 6 artists. The internship does not include travel or housing assistance.

Please note – applicants must be eligible to work in the U.K. and have a full clean driving license and means of transportation.

Who are Clear Angle Studios?

In 2013, after many hours of blood, sweat and tears, Dominic Ridley and Christopher Friend incorporated Clear Angle Studios, and after one year of trading had grown to four staff and one rig. Fast forward 8 years and CAS now services clients from all over the world, with varying requirements and budgets, and employs over 50 legendary crew globally. Big enough to make it all run like clockwork but small enough to still feel like a family.

Whether it’s a living or inanimate object you require captured in 3D, CAS can more than likely make it happen. CAS prides itself on being adaptable, sympathetic, accurate and affordable. And they love to meet new people.

Our Interns

Elias Rodriguez

A boring life doesn’t suit me, as boring doesn’t match with creativity. I grew up playing videogames, watching movies and drowning, things that every kid usually do until I figured out that I can create myself those realities I used to see on a screen. The studies I did reflect my willingness to stimulate and improve my creative skills. Every day different ideas come up in my mind and I love thinking about the best way I can express it. Photography, videomaking, animation, drowning and lighting are some of the many fields I try to keep updating working at my web profiles, reading about new approaches and advances and trying new stuff every day.

Lucie Krausova

I have graduated in 2020 as 3D animator at Pearson College (Escape Studios). I have a great interest in TV and I studied BA in 3D, which gave me great insight into the industry. I am self-motivated and work well within a team or on my own, I like to make things perfect, therefore attention to detail is no problem for me.

Joseph Bishop

I am a recent VFX graduate from Norwich University of the Arts. I volunteered for a film-making club during my time at school and in College I did a Media Production course where I discovered my love for VFX. I also have an interest in computing and some experience with Linux. My blend of creative and technical skills is one of the reasons I enjoy VFX.
