Explore and learn how to create a CG character sculpt and model
Creature Sculpting and Topology for VFX is a live/online course where will take you through the process of creating an industry-standard creature sculpt and model, ready to be rigged and textured.
For those that cannot make the live/online sessions, they will be recorded and uploaded to the CAVE platform, so you’ll be able to work through the teaching at your own pace.
The course will begin by taking an initial sketch that has been designed by the Art Department, gathering reference and seeing how the design can be pushed for story purposes. We’ll then look at creating a concept sculpt in ZBrush before moving on to building the retopologised mesh with UVs. Finally, we’ll set up some production-quality turntables to make our asset ready for review and sign off.
We’ll then look at creating a concept sculpt in ZBrush before moving on to fitting our CAVE base mesh to the sculpt. We’ll continue to refine the sculpt and modify the topology and UVs to suit the requirements of the asset. Finally, we’ll set up some production-quality turntables to make our asset ready for review and sign off.
Students who enrol on the course will also have automatic access to the following on-demand courses:
- Introduction to Maya 1001
- Modelling Fundamentals 1001
- Anatomy Fundamentals 1001
- CG and VFX Overview 1001
This is to ensure you are up-and-running from the offset for character creation.
