Decode the face to create believable characters and performances
This in-person course is all about the science and theory of facial expressions. Using the Facial Action Coding System (FACS) as a tool, we will cover fundamentals of facial movement and anatomy. We will then dive into combined expression shapes and basic emotions. In the last portion of the course, we will apply our new knowledge of the fundamentals to enhance expressivity, convey complex emotions, and craft character personality.
The course can be tailored to meet your schedule and requirements; for example, we could run this intensively over 2 days, or with more practical student participation over 3 or 5 days.
