CAVE Digital Macbeth Chart 1001
This is a digital Macbeth chart modelled to real-world scale for use with Assets and Shots. You can use the chart to balance your look dev setups and for assessing your lighting scenes, and a whole lot more.
- File Format: ma (2023+), FBX, Alembic, USD, OBJ,
- Colour Space: sRGB, ACEScg
We’ll add a video on how to go about using the Macbeth chart soon. In the meantime, here is a breakdown of how we created the chart.
Model and Textures
The model has been provided in a series of formats (/scenes directory), so you can load it into your app of choice. The model is also subdiv friendly, so if you want to smooth the mesh and add further detail, then you sure can.
The UVs are UDIM based, however, the important stuff is on UDIM 1001, so if you are working within 0 and 1, then you should still be good to go. We’ve applied a temp colour swatch texture, so you know to change it 😉
The model comes with textures (/sourceimages directory). Please remember that you’ll need to remap the textures to your local directory. Also, for the swatches, we recommend you to grab the relevent colour chart from the wonderful folk at colour-science:
A huge thanks to the fantastic team at CGI Backgrounds for providing CAVE with a series of HDRIs to test how our Macbeth chart responds to light. It responds very well indeed 😉
