CAVE Academy recently ran a HDRI lighting workshop for the team at Union Visual Effects. It was a great exercise and allowed our fantastic lighting supe to test drive our CAVE Academy ACEScg HDRI prep and lighting workflow.
This included taking the images from RAW to ACEScg, merging and stitching the images in Nuke, grading, extracting lights and piecing it all back together again in the 3D app, followed by a splash of refinement and testing.
We’ll be looking to now refine our templates and release this as a short course in the near future. We’ll also be looking to document the workflow and the template on our wiki/shop soon, so look out for that.
